What will students learn?

· How to use commercial kitchen equipment
· How to bake different kinds of breads, pastries, cookies, cakes; how to decorate cakes; and how to make soups, pizzas and savory items
· The knife skills necessary to be a "prep cook"
· How to write resumes, fill out job applications, and to find jobs in the food industry

Who can participate?

People who:
· are over 18 years old
· are eligible to work in the U.S. or are in the process of getting a work permit
· love to cook and bake
· can work on their feet for 8 hours a day and can lift 50 pounds
· are drug and alcohol free
· are fluent enough in English to read recipes
· commit to finding a job in the food industry upon graduation
· are willing to receive follow-up calls from the project after graduation
