Dear Friend,

The Bread Project is expanding into a new bakery training facility in Emeryville, and we are holding a grand-opening event on February 24, 2010.

Please join us to celebrate this new chapter in The Bread Project's evolution. Together, we can provide clear and sustainable positive benefits for economically disadvantaged populations and build thriving communities in the Bay Area.

About Our Expansion

With the support of community organizations, local businesses, foundations, and individuals in the Bay Area, The Bread Project has become a successful workforce development organization that promotes self-sufficiency among economically marginalized Bay Area residents.

From our humble beginnings ten years ago, our program has graduated more than 700 trainees and helped over 500 graduates find jobs.

However, the demand for job training and supports is increasing, especially in the current economic climate. To enhance our impact on the individuals and communities in need, we are expanding our bakery and culinary job training program.

Our expansion is thanks in large part to the generous contributions of Chevron Corporation and Semifreddi's Bakery. Chevron, as part of their California Partnership, has been one of The Bread Project's strongest supporters. Their multi-year funding investment along with Semifreddi's underwriting of the facility lease has made this much needed expansion possible.

Over the next two years, we expect to double our training capacity and scale up our bakery social enterprise. This strengthens our double bottom line by improving employment outcomes for graduates and creating a more sustainable revenue model for the organization.
Warm regards,
