To succeed in our job training program, we connect with local employers through services and incentives.
- We supply skilled, well-trained, and motivated workers who:
- Know how to use a wide variety of commercial kitchen equipment,
- Have learned kitchen safety and sanitation,
- Know the vocabulary of cooking and baking,
- Are trained in prep cook skills,
- Can bake a wide variety of desserts, breads, pizzas, and other savory items.
- We lower employers' recruitment costs by providing free referral service.
- We offer follow-up services.
Employers can claim tax credits when hiring ex-offenders, recipients of food stamps, SSI, and long-term family assistance, vocational rehabilitation referrals, and veterans under the Work Opportunity Tax Credit.
Employers with businesses in the Enterprise Zone in Oakland can use 50 percent of their new employees' first year wages as a California tax credit, with additional tax credits for the first five years of employment.
